Team Gleason makes more technology strides

The Steve Gleason Enduring Voices Act will give Americans suffering from ALS the chance to work, be active in their communities, and pursue their dreams.

It was a humbling privilege to push this legislation through and ensure its passage.

    Tax reform benefits Spokane distillery

Did you know Dry Fly Distilling was the first distillery in WA state to make a spirit after the end of prohibition?

And now, thanks to tax reform, they'll be expanding their business to build a new facility and hire more workers. Congratulations, Don! Cheers to lower taxes!

    Happy Birthday President Lincoln

Born on this day 209 years ago, Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, father of the Republican Party, and undoubtedly saved the Union. May we continue to cherish his enduring words.

Throwback to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Throwback to 2014, when I took the Ice Bucket Challenge to help raise awareness and money for ALS research.

Last week, I was honored and privileged to see a bill I sponsored — the permanent extension of the Steve Gleason Enduring Voices Act — signed into law with bipartisan support. It will give Americans with speech disabilities, especially those with ALS, access to technology that will give them a voice again.

I Want to Solve the Problem

"I think of my daughters and wonder what kind of culture they're inheriting. This type of behavior is beneath us and not who we are. No longer should your taxpayer dollars go to cover up inappropriate behavior by members."

Last year, in the wake of the #MeToo movement, I thought of my daughters and made a vow to make changes in Congress.

I'm proud to say that yesterday the House passed landmark legislation to create new protections for House employees and stop elected officials from using taxpayer dollars to pay settlements.

    The Inspiring Gerber Baby 2018

"[Lucas] has the potential to change the world, just like everybody else."

Kudos to Gerber for an inspiring 2018 Gerber baby selection!

Children like Lucas, and my son Cole, are exactly why I fought to expand ABLE provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act -- to empower anyone with disabilities to live their dreams and find success, regardless of the challenges they may face.

    Congratulations, Lucas, Cortney and Jason.

    Phil Tyler: Cathy Reached Out

Phil Tyler, former President of NAACP Spokane, talks about Cathy McMorris Rodgers' help and compassion after the MLK Center was hit with hateful graffiti. We must all agree that America is not a race, but an idea and that everyone in America deserves respect and a chance at the American dream.
