Our nation’s current broadband mapping system is outdated and leaves many rural Americans without access to quality broadband. I’m leading in Congress on a bill which, among other steps, makes the move to update the way the FCC creates the broadband map and allows the public to challenge the map as the need arises. Rural residents in Eastern Washington and across this country should not be left behind and excluded from the benefits of the great technological innovation happening in America.
The internet has become essential to 21st Century life. Americans should have the confidence that when they go online they know who they are dealing with and can protect themselves from harmful spyware, spam, and fraud. That’s why I’m leading in Congress to make sure that Americans can feel safe and secure while using the internet.
In many ways, Veterans Day is about freedom. President Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.” Today, on Veterans Day, we thank and celebrate the men and women who have fought to secure and maintain our freedom.
We owe our freedom, our way of life, our very existence as a nation to these veterans past, present, and future. Please take a moment today to reflect and make sure to thank the veterans in your life. Happy Veterans Day!
I’m excited to see the Trump administration continuing to prioritize infrastructure improvements in Eastern Washington and across the nation. As a leader in economic and transportation development, the Spokane International Airport is a great place to invest this $11.3 million BUILD grant from the Department of Transportation. Thank you to the Trump administration and Spokane International Airport for the leadership you've shown in encouraging economic growth and development in our communities.
Tonight, I had the pleasure of speaking with students from across the district. The energy and knowledge they brought convinces me that the future is in bright hands. Thank you to ACC President Benji Backer for joining us tonight. The students enjoyed meeting you and discussing important issues facing our country. Thank you also to the students who came out for this evening. You make me believe that the best is truly yet to come!
As I’ve been saying, we do not need to spend $750,000 of state taxpayer money to study something we should all know the answer already: tearing down the Columbia and Snake River Dams would be a mistake. From the rise in energy prices that would follow, to the need for thousands of more semi-trucks on the roads to compensate for the loss of barging, the effects would be detrimental. We cannot afford to tear down our dams.
It was a pleasure to join some of Washington State’s best leaders for lunch in Spokane Valley, and discussion about the challenges facing our state. The Washington Senate Republican Campaign Committee is committed to maintaining the best of Washington and finding solutions for what isn’t working. We all firmly believe that with the right leadership, the best is yet to come!
Violence of any kind must not be allowed in our communities. Thank you to the Trump Administration and DOJ for prioritizing the safety of our communities here in Eastern Washington. Organizations that will benefit from this important funding include YWCA of Spokane, City of Spokane, Spokane Tribe of Indians and End Violence Against Women International, in Colville.

It’s encouraging to see so much energy and enthusiasm driving one of our state’s most famous staple industries. I’m excited to try out this delicious, all-natural new apple developed by Washington State University!
I was happy to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the re-opening of the Pullman Moscow airport. It is a great example of a local community coming together, imagining what’s possible, and getting it done.
