Our veterans were willing to put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms - now its our turn to give them the care they deserve. This is why I've introduced legislation that requires VA medical staff to report directly to state licensing boards when they witness unethical or unacceptable behavior.
Thank you Carolyn for your support of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The hardworking men and women of America deserve a tax code that puts them first. We’ve created a plan that rewards hard work, encourages innovation and entrepreneurship, and levels the playing field so that everyone plays by the same rules. Read Carolyn's letter here.
Yesterday was a historic day in the U.S. House of Representatives. For the first time in 31 years, we passed legislation that fundamentally reforms our tax code and provides real relief to hard working Americans. I was honored to cast my vote for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which simplifies our broken tax code, provides immediate tax relief for families and small businesses and will bring jobs back to America.
These middle class tax cuts will help Eastern Washington small businesses hire more people, help family farms grow, and put more money in the pockets of hard working Americans.
Yesterday the House passed my bill that addresses the lengthy and expensive relicensing process for hydropower. In Washington, about 70% of our energy comes from hydropower. By streamlining the process we can encourage the continued use and expansion of clean, affordable, and renewable energy.
My proposal for funding for the Spokane Teaching Health Clinic passed the House last week. We also adopted five-year funding for the vital Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). It's a good time to listen to Dr. Robert Maudlin discuss the importance of the teaching health centers around the country.
Last week my bill to reauthorize the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program passed the House along with the extension for the Children's Health Insurance Program. This included funding for programs like the Spokane Teaching Health Clinic, which are vital in getting more doctors in underserved and rural areas.
I spoke with Neil Cavuto about our tax relief proposal that is aimed at boosting the economy, creating new jobs and bringing tax relief to hard-working families. Everyone should have the opportunity to realize their full potential and pursue their version of the American dream, and that begins with reforming the broken tax code.
Yesterday I helped pass the Resilient Federal Forests Act of 2017. The U.S. Forest Service has warned us that our forests are in terrible shape. Overregulation has hindered forest management and has increased the risk for devastating fires. This legislation will help to create healthier, more resilient forests.
I joined Sen. Marco Rubio in introducing a bill that will spur investment in small businesses in Washington. This is an investment in our community that will grow our local economy and create more jobs here in Eastern Washington.
