Cathy on the Japan Trade Deal

As I said in my op-ed last year, it’s essential that we do more to prioritize trade agreements and pursue smart trade policies that enable people here in Eastern Washington to access worldwide markets.

Last week President Trump and Prime Minister Abe of Japan signed a trade deal, opening Japan’s market to around $7 billion in American agricultural products. Lower tariffs and access to Japan’s economy, the third-largest in the world, will greatly benefit Eastern Washington’s farmers.
