Cathy's Ideas for RESTORING CONFIDENCE IN WALL STREET
Right now, our economy faces challenges that many of us haven't seen before in our lives. We have watched with concern as the turmoil on Wall Street impacts our economy and everyone who does business on Main Street. I believe we need to work together to figure out the best way to bring long-lasting stability and confidence to Wall Street while limiting taxpayer exposure.
I remain unconvinced the current $700 billion Wall Street rescue proposal is the right approach for the market and the best value for taxpayers. I believe the government needs to act, but that doesn't mean spending your money on short term fixes. Instead, we need to modernize outdated financial regulations to ensure long term prosperity for Eastern Washington families, businesses and communities.
